Director, Pam Drewry
I am Pam Drewry and am beginning my eleventh year as Butler Kickline
Director. I came into this distinguished position by way of my good
friend, Lori Downey. Lori encouraged me to take over the reins so
she could concentrate on being Coach/Choreographer for the team, in
addition to attending to her growing studio and family.
My dance career began in my early twenties, when my younger sister
persuaded me to join her in jazz, tap, ballet and hula. I have
assisted in teaching at Annette's School of Dance, and choreographed
for the Miami County Junior Miss program for several years. I have
judged the Tipp Mum pageant twice, and also some local dance team
try-outs.
My biggest claim to fame is being the only original member of the
adult jazz class at Dance Expressions Studio. I am looking forward
to my 14th year in jazz and tap with a wonderful group of ladies.
I graduated from Tippecanoe HS in 1974, and have been married to Pat
since 1976. I hold a Financial Management degree from Sinclair and
worked at Key bank for 11 years before deciding to become a
stay-at-home mom. We have two wonderful children: Erica, who
graduated from Butler in 2002 and OSU in 2008. She danced with the
Ohio State dance team for four years, and is a registered dietician
employed at the Naval Hospital at Camp LeJeune. She is
married
to Nick, a Marine 1st lieutenant, also stationed at Camp LeJeune.
They live in Wilmington, North Carolina with their dog Ellie Mae.
Tony graduated from Butler in 2006, and from Miami University in
2010 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He proposed to his
high school sweetheart of six years, and they are planning to marry
in 2011. Our dog Maybel brings a lot of joy to our household, and
helps fill the void left by our children being away from home.
I am excited to begin the new season with an extremely talented team
of dedicated dancers.
My years with the Kickline have been filled with many good memories.
In addition to the reward that comes from knowing so many talented,
special young ladies and their families, is the pride of being a
part of such an esteemed and successful program.
I can't wait to see what this season holds for THE Butler Kickline!
Coach/Choreographer, Lori Downey
Lori
Downey has been with the Butler Kickline since 1993. She served as
the Director/Coach/Choreographer until 2000. Lori was awarded
Director of the Year at the 2000 State/National Championships.
Once Pam Drewry came on board, Lori began to serve solely as the
Coach/Choreographer. The team has held several State and National
titles, leadership awards and earned numerous medals in the last 15
years.
Lori is in her 15th year as a board member for Showcase American
Unlimited and in her 16th season as a judge for the circuit. She was
Director of Creative Dance Productions camp circuit in the summer of
2000. She was involved in the Showcase of Stars Pageant (now
Creative Dance Spectacular) for several years as a judge, production
number assistant and hospitality chairperson.
In 1997 she graduated with a fine arts degree and opened the doors
of Dance Expressions Dance Studio. The studio celebrates its 13th
season this year. The Tiny and Mini Expressions dance teams were
formed in 2002 and have enjoyed being little sisters to the Butler Kickline and Vantasia dance teams. The studio, in conjunction with
the four Vandalia dance teams, has 48 soloists this year. She is
looking forward to another fun-filled year with the Butler Kickline!
Lori is married to Jon and has 3 wonderful kids - Morgan, Logan and
Reagan. ☺
